Feral Felines
As a political artist who relocated to the Middle East, I sought a safe and symbolic way to create socially engaged art connecting the streets and the internet. On my first day in Kuwait, I ventured outside, and almost immediately, stray cats gathered around me. I felt a compelling urge to document their personalities, their self-reliance, and the environments they inhabited. I became engrossed in photographing the urban wildlife's beauty and sharing it on Instagram, hoping to raise awareness of their plight and promote empathy for these often-overlooked creatures. My ongoing photography project showcases stray cats' grace, resilience, and enigmatic beauty as they navigate the concrete jungles they call home. I intend to challenge conventional notions of domesticity and wildness to encourage people to reconsider their relationship with these elusive creatures who share our spaces yet exist on the periphery of human society.
Each photograph in my collection celebrates the adaptability and survival instincts of stray cats and invites viewers to appreciate their inherent beauty. Through subtle compositions and thoughtful framing, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and reverence for these often misunderstood creatures. By doing so, I hope to honor their importance as part of urban ecosystems and advocate for their protection and preservation in the face of ongoing urbanization and habitat loss. Join me on this photographic odyssey as we journey into the hidden world of feral felines, where the boundaries between civilization and wilderness blur, and the spirit of untamed freedom reigns supreme.
